Since 1979 Dean Hedstrom, PE, and Hedstrom Engineering Company have provided consulting engineering services throughout the Midwest, as well as nationally and internationally. Today Dean Hedstrom continues to bring his unique skills in process control, machine automation, motion control, and data management to a variety of clients.

In the 1980s and ‘90s, Dean Hedstrom led a staff of ten designers and engineers at Hedstrom Engineering. The company’s business model has evolved, and Dean Hedstrom now concentrates on individual projects that are interesting and professionally challenging, engaging with motivated clients to provide creative solutions to manufacturing challenges.

The fundamentals of control and automation have not changed, but the variety and functionality of contemporary hardware, software and technology is so advanced that many more things are possible than we could have imagined even ten years ago.

Dean Hedstrom is a registered Professional Engineer in Minnesota and other states; maintains a Class A Master Electrician's license; holds U.S. Coast Guard Master Mariner's credentials; and is a licensed pilot (which allows for speedy access to distant client locations). He graduated from the University of Michigan, BSE/EE.
